The new semester seems to be off to a good start, printmaking class this semester. I have been looking forward to this class for months. I know so little about printmaking. I am really looking forward to learning more about different printing techniques.
Our first project is a linocut print using a Chine Colle layering technique. I have been working on the sketch for the linocut this last week. It took some time to come up with an idea to meet the project objectives. I had several rough sketches but finally decided on this.

It is slowly coming together. You have to visualize with a negative type process to create the relief carving. I am still working on getting my hands around where the areas to carve and what areas needs to be left. Instinctually my brain want to carve out the areas that are dark and leave the white areas but it is actually reverse.
I know it will all come together as I start the linocut. Looking forward to our first proofs….more to come after the project is competed…..
