Molding Acrylic

IMG_4896

Scavenged some great cardboard and but one to good use. Experimented with a little molding paste and acrylic. Here is the result.

Enjoyed using the molding paste. It added a depth to the canvas and object you really can’t achieve with the paints. I don’t think the picture does it justice, but the depth of the molding paste gives it another dimension.

I think there is lots more exploring to do with the molding paste. It was a challenge to get the modeling paste on the canvas in the beginning. I used a palette knife for this piece. I found I had best luck using the back of the palette knife for spreading the paste.  There was a sense of being free working with the paste.

Fun little project!

  1. This does look like fun! I’m only now beginning to use acrylics, and I haven’t done molding paste yet. I love seeing the results you’ve achieved, and I’ll definitely have to give this a try once I gain more familiarity with the medium.

    1. Thank you Judith. It was lots if fun playing with the paste. I really have only dabbled with acrylics but have an experimental spirit and love texture. The paste let me play with that. You should give the paste a try. Happy creating!
